Growing Old with Blogging as a Profession

old peopleThese days, it could be difficult to get a job when you are not very young anymore. There are human resource managers who would prefer to hire those who are young. It might not be politically correct, but it still happens. For those who have businesses, they might not have to go through the whole job application process because they have something that would sustain their lives anyway. But for others in different parts of the world — this is a reality that they have to face.

One of the things a friend once said is that she sees blogging as something that she could look forward to doing when she’s not as young anymore. She has tried professional blogging already and now she is in another industry. Some of the good points that she made during that conversation involve the flexibility of the schedule, the informal nature of writing, the chance to share one’s experiences. It doesn’t really mean that she recommends blogging for older people per se, but it’s an option that one could take. After all, one could be an individual professional blogger — set up your own blog, put up some income-generating stuff like ads and make sure that you are using white hat search optimization techniques and write good copy.

Who says that you can’t do much after retiring from the workplace? You could still earn from your blog! You could meet so many other people on the blogosphere! You could even travel and meet other bloggers in various events and conferences where you might be invited to speak and share more about your life as a blogger and more. Wouldn’t that possibility be something quite exciting?
