Promoting your blog on forums

There are different ways and venues of promoting your blog. One of them is through forums. There are different topics discussed in forums and if you blog about something, you’d like others to check it out too. People in forums talk about things they are passionate about and wouldn’t it be nice if you could also interact with them on your blog?
Finding the forum to participate in
Not everyone who goes online joins forums and sometimes you might have to ask around people you personally know which forums they would recommend. However, you could also do an online search. For example, if you are writing about working from home or maybe even chefs, you could search for a forum about it. Dicussing all sorts of concerns on the forum would also be beneficial for you because you could see the different perspectives and experiences of people.
Check out the policies on the forum
Some forums do not like blatant promotion of personal sites and blogs but they do allow signatures to contain a URL or two. Make sure that you are able to check out if you can actually do some shameless plugging as some people put it. Otherwise, just enjoy the company of the people on the forum. Make sure that your profile contains your blog URL just so they could click on it easily. Following policies is also for your own good. If not, you could get banned from posting altogether. Bad reputation is something you’d like to avoid unless you are someone who believes that bad publicity is still publicity.
