Your signature is who you are

Email is still one of the common forms of online communication. You could get comments notification via email for one thing. For another, if you can’t catch your contacts via instant messaging or VoIP, you could email them and make sure that they get your messages. Some people forget to add a personal touch to their email signatures because it is as if everything about it is not very personal. However, you could remedy that by improving the way you communicate via email, as well as adding signatures to your email.
Your email signature is something that identifies you online. Think of the transactions that you make offline. You have to sign papers, your signature is on your identification cards, on contracts, etc. Same thing goes for your email. You need something to identify you. Although email signatures are not exactly like signatures you have on your legal documents and identification cards, it still signifies what you stand for and where people could find you. Even though your email would already have your email address, it is still a good idea to let others know your online whereabouts.
Add your blog URL to your signature so people can visit your blog. It is one of the ways you could advertise your blog. If you have a lot of them, you could register as a spammer on certain spam filters. (That is one of things that my sys ad acquaitances told me before: two many URLs in the signature could be a false positive on spam filters. Tsk tsk tsk…) Aside from your URL, you could add a brief description of what it is. That way, people will immediately recognize you or recall you. Geek or not, it’s the age of online communication and it’s better that you could deal with these little things.
