Fighting the Blogging Block

Blogging is easy. Blogging consistently is the hard part. It isn’t hard when you’ve been blogging for just a few weeks but if you’ve been blogging for months even years you’ll find that there will be times that you’ll simply feel like you’ve run out something to blog about. When this happens the momentum is disrupted and getting back to blogging becomes even harder. To fight the block here are some tips that I myself use time and again.
Read regularly – If you don’t feed yourself new information then it isn’t a wonder that you’ll run out of something new to write about. So keep on reading other related blogs, news, and books.
Keep a list of your topics – Look at the list every now and then to see if there’s anything you want to expand on or have changed your mind about. Sometimes you can also summarize a few favorite posts. Having a list will make it easier for you to do this.
Invite a guest blogger – I’ve done some posts recently on guest blogging. If you need a break, go ahead and take a short break just make sure that you have a deadline for yourself to get back your blog’s reins.
Off-topic post – Indulge yourself in an off-topic post once in a while. Put some humorous joke or find an on-topic cartoon online that you can post. Just make sure you ask permission to re-post when needed.
If you still find yourself in a rut take time to figure out why. Blogging just might not be your only problem. Find your passion for your forte and you’ll find the passion to blog again.
